Dear all,

We feel ecstatic today to share with you a sneak preview of our upcoming STV 4.0 Interface Builder integration. Using our own custom objects in Interface Builder's object library, we're now able to re-create our classic Tasks App without using a single line of code! :)

Please checkout our latest video preview and let us know what you think:

Great!

It's tough to build products with features that are more advanced than users have even asked for.... but it looks like you are doing it again.

I'm a huge fan!

This looks fantastic!

Quick question - have you determined upgrade pricing yet? I'm asking because I hope to land a contract soon for a project that would work well with STV 4. I can buy V3 now and explore framework if there's going to be a good way to upgrade to the new version when it is released.

Hi Lars,

We're actually almost done! :) However, we think it will be wise to test with the new Xcode & iOS 8 before releasing. It's very possible to have some compatibility issues with the upcoming Xcode and we want to be ready for that. I'll be updating you on the test results as soon as we get our hands on the new Apple stuff.

Hi Tarek,

congratulations on this, really looking forward to the 4.0 release.  In the video, you mentioned that you would be releasing some tips on how to integrate our own objects into the Storyboard like you did with STV.  Is that still in the works?

thanks,

Everett

Hi Everett,

Thank you very much! The same holds true for the blog post, we're looking forward to publish a one that is compatible with the newest version of Xcode and iOS 8. Thanks again.

Hi:

I am going to start immediately a new project ... could you let us know STV 4.0 availability ?

Being IOS8 compatible specially with Xcode 6 will be very important, specially to use new Apple kits and Swift ... that is our situation now.

Any case I will appreciate very much if you can tell us:

STV 4.0 availability even if it is as a beta.

STV 4.0 prices and STV 3.0 pro update to STV 4.0 prices.

Just let us know as soon as you can so we are able to accommodate our plans.

Thank very much. Regards.

Jesus

Dear all,

It has been a huge week at WWDC. Let me first start by saying that we're absolutely glad that we waited before the STV 4.0 release, as there are several critical updates needed to support Xcode 6 and iOS 8. Here is a list of the most important ones (non exhaustive):

  • Ensure full support for the new Swift language. It's crucial for STV to give you the flexibility to use the language of your choice in your projects, or even mix & match between Objective-C and Swift.
  • Support for the new adaptive layout and size classes. Apple now strongly advices against writing device specific code, hence all of STV's device specific code must be removed and replaced with new code that utilizes the new technologies provided.
  • Presentation Controllers. Similarly, STV should make use of the new presentation controllers to provide consistent experience amongst different devices.
  • CloudKit Support. STV should incorporate the new CloudKit into it's STV+iCloud framework.
  • Xcode 6 Object Library integration. Fix compatibility issues between Xcode 5 & Xcode 6 object library integration.
  • Dynamic Frameworks. Release STV as a dynamic framework. This is a new Xcode 6 feature that will enhance your experience when adding/using STV with your project.

Since all of the above is dependent on Xcode 6, STV 4.0 will be released alongside the Xcode 6 release (2-3 months). For people asking about the upgrade price, it should be no different than our previous upgrade prices ($99).

Thank you all, and looking forward to our next release.
